Caption: Solar eruption. Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) footage of a huge eruption of plasma from the surface of the Sun. The clip spans four hours of real time. The plasma is erupted from the surface of the sun and falls back down onto its surface. Its fall is cushioned by a layer of much hotter plasma below it. Image taken by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on the SDO on 19th April 2010.
