Caption: Autumnal aspens. View from the ground of the crowns of autumnal aspens (Populus tremuloides). These are common trees throughout North America and Eurasia. Their leaves turn orange due to the breakdown of the dominant green pigment chlorophyll. This allows other pigments which are usually hidden to be seen. Photographed in Caribou National Forest, Idaho, USA.
