Caption: Willow (Salix sp.) fence. Willow trees are deciduous and are primarily found in cooler parts of the northern hemisphere. One of their more unusual properties is the ease with which they can take root from cuttings or fallen branches. As such, branches from the willow have been used to manufacture structures which are alive and can grow. The fence in this image will, if pruned effectively, become bushier and better established as it gets older.
