Caption: Scots pine tree (Pinus sylvestris 'Aurea'). This evergreen's habitat extends from northern central Europe to north east Asia, with isolated pockets in Asia Minor and Scotland. In the more southerly regions it grows only at altitude. It can reach as high as 40 metres and is unisexual (individual plants are either male or female), flowering from April to June.
