This plant virus is a fabavirus, and has an RNA (ribonucleic acid) genome. It was first identified in 1947 in the broad bean plant (Vicia faba), a plant cultivated as a food crop. This virus also infects several other plants, including spinach and pea plants. Symptoms range from mottled lesions to wilting. The virus is transmitted by several species of aphids. Magnification: x92,000 when printed 10cm high.
