Caption: Baobab tree (Adansonia grandidieri). The tree is endemic to western Madagascar. It can grow to heights of around thirty metres. Its large swollen trunk is adapted for storing water. The fibrous bark can be up to fifteen centimetres thick and is used to make rope.
