Caption: Bone spur, caused by arthritis, protruding from the heel of a 62-year-old man's foot. The bone spur is at the attachment point of the Achilles tendon. It has been caused by osteoarthritis in the talonavicular joint (a joint on the top of the foot at the base of the ankle). Osteoarthritis is the degeneration of the body's joints, usually due to wear and tear.
