Caption: Cryptosporidiosis. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of an intestinal surface (orange) infected with Cryptosporidium parvum (round). C. parvum are parasitic protozoa that can be transmitted to humans from farm animals through milk and water. The release of a toxin results in abdominal cramps and severe diarrhoea.
