Caption: This MRI of the cervical spine shows an area of abnormality in the upper spinal cord, at the C3 level. The enlargement of the spinal cord in this region is typical for a Cavernous Malformation, a slow-flow type of vascular malformation. This lesion can occur in the spinal cord or brain and consists of dilated capillaries that can expand as blood oozes around it. When symptomatic and accessible, these lesions can be surgically removed.
