Caption: Cerebral palsy. Coloured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of an axial (horizontal) section through the head of a child with cerebral palsy. The front of the head is at top. A right frontal porencephalic cyst can be seen (outlined in red), which is an abnormal cyst or cavity filled with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). In this case it has resulted in left sided weakness of the child. Cerebral palsy is a developmental abnormality caused by damage to the brain of a baby during late pregnancy, child-birth or early childhood.
