Caption: Salivary gland calculus, parotid tumour, sub-hyoid bursa, branchial cyst, sternomastoid tumour. An illustration of five disorders and diseases in the mouth and neck. The jawbone and neck muscles have been dissected. Under the tongue a salivary gland duct is dissected showing a white calculus stone causing blockage. Below the earlobe, the parotid salivary gland has developed a mixed cancerous tumour. Beneath this is a white egg-shaped cyst overlying the windpipe (branchial). Cysts usually are fluid-filled. A smaller disc-shaped bursa (white, left of cyst) has formed at a pressure point. The sternomastoid neck muscle is cut, with a white circular tumour seen on the lower cut.
