Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Radiotherapy burn on the neck of a 65-year-old man at the site of radiation treatment for cancer of the larynx (voice box). Smoking and excessive alcohol use can cause laryngeal cancer. Small tumours can be treated by radiotherapy, the use of radiation, which destroys the cancer cells. However, radiotherapy also results in small burns to the surface of the skin, which may become infected.
