Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Skin cancer. Post-radiotherapy basal cell carcinoma (BCC), or rodent ulcer, on the bridge of the nose of an 81-year-old man. This is the most common form of skin cancer among fair- skinned people, mostly affecting the elderly. It usually appears on the face and is thought to be caused by the ultraviolet radiation in sunlight. It slowly destroys surrounding tissues, but seldom spreads to other parts of the body. This man has received radiotherapy treatment. Other treatments for basal cell carcinoma include cryotherapy, cauterization or surgical excision.
