Caption: Cancer cell and lymphocytes. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of killer T-lymphocytes (yellow) attacking a cancer cell (pink). The cancer cell's shape has become distorted during the attack and vesicles (known as apoptotic bodies) are seen emerging from it. Killer T- lymphocytes are white blood cells that are part of the body's immune response system. They are programmed to seek out, attach themselves and kill cancer cells, usually using chemicals. Magnification: unknown.
