Caption: Gastric cancer. Light micrograph of a section through a gastric cancer or carcinoma. It is a malignant tumour (neoplasm) that arises in the lining (epithelium) of the stomach. Several cells with typically large or double nuclei (dark purple) as seen. It rarely affect people under the age of 40, and is more common in men than women. It requires early detection before it spreads beyond the stomach lining. The partial or complete removal of the stomach (gastrectomy) is a common treatment. Magnification unknown.
