Caption: Salivary gland cancer. Light micrograph of a section through a parotid gland showing cancerous cells. The parotid salivary glands are situated either side of the face in front of and below the ears, they are the largest of the salivary glands. This is a malignant (cancerous) tumour. Cancer of the parotid glands is rare and usually only found in those over 60 years of age. Treatment is with surgical removal of the tumour, often combined with chemotherapy.
