Caption: Cliff of a Mediterranean island partly covered by shrubs of Euphorbia dendroides (some with small yellow flowers) and Opuntia sp. They mostly grow in hot and dry climates. Euphorbia dendroides belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family whose species yield a milky juice or latex. The stem of Opuntia species is characterised by a series of flattened, fleshy joints protected with bristling bunches of barbed spines.
