Caption: Pancreatic cancer. Light micrograph of a section through the pancreas of a patient with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. An adenocarcinoma is a malignant (cancerous) tumour that arises from glandular tissue. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas rarely form glands and have a poor prognosis. Pancreatic cancer often causes no symptoms until it is well established and untreatable. Stained with eosin and haematoxylin. Magnification: x55 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
