Caption: False-colour abdominal immunoscintigram revealing secondary (metastatic) cancer of the colon arising from a primary cancer of the spleen. The scintigram was obtained using a monolonal antibody raised specifically against cancer cells in the spleen - the primary tumour. The antibody was labelled with the radio-isotope Iodine-131 and injected intravenously. Radioactive emissions from the isotope were subsequently mapped by scintigraphy (gamma camera scanning). Radioactivity from the increased concentration of monoclonal antibody in the colonic cancer cells is represented by the red, pink & white colour coding at centre-right of theimage.
