Caption: Lymphoma. False-colour lymphangiogram of the abdomen of a person suffering from a lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, showing obstructed lymph glands. Lymphangiography is an X-ray technique used to outline the nodes & channels of the lymphatic system. In order to examine the abdominal lymph glands, a radio-opaque dye is injected into both feet and a series of X-ray images made over a period of weeks to trace the dye's progress towards the head. Here, the dye has been taken up by enlarged lymph glands in the pelvis; these appear as pale blue patches scattered in an abnormally diffuse pattern.
