Caption: Lung cancer. Coloured X-ray of the chest of a patient, showing secondary lung cancer. The two lung fields appear at upper frame (red) within the ribcage. The cancer is seen as small opacities (pale markings) within the lungs. In this case it is a secondary cancer, spread from an osteosarcoma of the humerus (upper arm) bone. Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone cancer which spreads rapidly to the lungs and, less commonly, to other areas of the body. It occurs mainly in adolescents and elderly people. Treatment may involve surgical removal of affected bone and lung tissue, and a course of chemotherapy.
