Caption: Indigestion. Man experiencing pain in the upper abdomen and chest due to indigestion (dyspepsia). Indigestion is a general term for pain associated with eating, including heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea and flatulence. Typically, indigestion is associated with discomfort or a burning pain in the area behind the sternum and above the stomach. The sensation may appear to rise from the abdomen into the throat and may be accompanied by the regurgitation of acidic stomach contents into the mouth. Indigestion occurs after eating too much, too quickly, or by eating very rich, spicy, or fatty foods. Treatment may include drinking milk or taking antacid drugs.
