Caption: Bone growth disorder. Coloured X-rays of the left hand of a patient with enchondromatosis (Ollier's disease). Enchondromatosis is a rare bone growth disorder where masses of cartilage form in bones. The growths can appear in childhood. Here, they have appeared in the fingers (see swellings on index finger). In later life, the growths can turn cancerous, when they will need removing. The X-ray at right is from above, while the X-ray at left is at an angle (three-quarters view).
