Caption: Bone growth disorder. Frontal X-ray of the hip joints of a child with bilateral epiphysiolysis of the hips (coxa vara). This childhood condition is a bone growth disorder where the head of a bone (the epiphysis) becomes partially detached from the shaft (the diaphysis). Here, both femoral shafts are at the wrong angle, with both legs sticking outwards from the body. The patient will develop a limp, and surgery is required to realign the leg bones.
