Caption: This coronal (from the front) MRI image of a person with partial complex seizures shows the typical findings seen with mesial temporal sclerosis which is the most common cause of partial complex epilepsy. The right hippocampus (on your left) is brighter than normal and the right temporal horn is slightly larger than the left consistent with atrophy. MRI is the best diagnostic tool to morphologically identify mesial temporal sclerosis.
