Dislocated lens. Close-up of the eye of a patient with a dislocated lens. The lens is the part of the eye that is responsible for fine focusing. It is has come away from its correct position here. This may cause serious vision defects, such as double vision and distorted images. It almost always occurs as a result of an injury to the eye, although some medical conditions (for instance, Marfan's syndrome) may make it more likely. An artificial lens can be surgically implanted to correct the problem.
