Caption: Hottentot fig flowers (Carpobrotus edulis). This creeping perennial plant has tapering waxy succulent leaves. The flowers have numerous overlapping petals arranged like a fringe around the stamens. The plant produces an edible fig-like fruit. It is native to South Africa, but has been inntroduced worldwide.
