Rights Managed

Ischaemia. Close-up of an infected, ischaemic toe of a patient with diabetes. Ischaemia occurs when blood supply to part of the body is insufficient. In this case the primary cause was diabetes, and the toe became ulcerated. Poor blood supply to the extremities is a common complication of diabetes, and can lead to gangrene without good foot care and scrupulous hygiene.
