Caption: Arteriosclerosis. Light micrograph of a section through an artery (central round structure) in a case of arteriosclerosis. This is the renal artery that supplies the kidney. Arteriosclerosis is the progressive hardening and narrowing of arteries by the deposition of calcium or fatty material, and the fibrosis (scarring) of the arteries. In this case, the narrowing of the arterial lumen (central space) is seen. Magnification unknown.
