Caption: Impetigo. Skin of a patient suffering from the skin disease impetigo, which is caused by a bacterial infection. The infection causes numerous fluid-filled blisters to form on the skin, which burst to leave moist, open wounds. It is highly contagious, and can be spread by contact with contaminated clothing or other materials (such as towels). It is most common in children. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs, often as a cream.
