Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Bullous pemphigoid blisters on the wrist of a 72- year-old woman. This autoimmune skin disease is characterised by the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) autoantibodies that attack the skin proteins holding skin cells together at the junction between the epidermis and dermis.
