Caption: Flowers outside Kensington Palace. These flowers were placed by members of the public in memory of Princess Diana, popularly known as the Queen of Hearts, outside her residence during the days after her death on 31 August 1997. She was killed in a car crash in Paris. The outpouring of public grief at Princess Diana's death was unprecedented and florists across the country had to work non- stop in the aftermath of the crash to keep up with demand.
