Caption

Sinusitis. Sinusitis is a bacterial infection of the sinuses, large cavities that span upwards from the nose, between the eyes, to the lower forehead and also outwards underneath the eye sockets. This man has some swelling around his left eye (seen on the right), as a result of his sinusitis. Treatment is usually a course of antibiotics, although over-the-counter decongestants and antihistamines can also help.
