This composite of 4 sagittal (from the side) MRI images of the brain in an infant with seizures shows the appearance of an abnormal cleft within the brain parenchyma called schizencephaly. This is an abnormal cleft in the brain which extends down to the ventricle and is lined by gray matter. Individuals often have a seizure disorder.
