Caption: Dermatitis due to wristwatch allergy. A red rash around a patient's wrist caused by allergy to substances in a wristwatch strap. This type of skin reaction, called contact dermatitis, is best dealt with by avoiding the substance that provokes it. Severe dermatitis rashes can be controlled by corticosteroid drugs. Scratching should be avoided to prevent further damage to the skin, which could lead to infection.
