Caption: Mite bites. Close-up of the skin of a 52 year old woman showing numerous red bites caused by Cheyletiella sp. mites. These mites are usually parasitic on dogs, but they are not discriminat- ing, and will bite humans given the chance. The bites tend to be in clusters, as seen here, and are intensely itchy. The itching can be relieved by the use of creams, and shampoos and powders are available for killing the mites on their host dog.
