Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). Inflamed and itchy rash around a 20-year-old man's abdomen, caused by an allergy to the nickel in his belt buckle. ACD arises from an induced sensitivity (allergy), as opposed to the direct damage of contact dermatitis. Nickel, the leading cause of ACD, is found in jewellery and clothing fastenings. Treatment involves avoiding the cause and using corticosteroid drugs for the rash.
