Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Swollen lip of a 40 year old man caused by angioedema (angioneurotic oedema). This is an allergic reaction characterised by the swelling of soft tissue in the lips, mouth, larynx and other areas. This reaction was caused by latex. Angioedema can cause difficulty with breathing and potentially block the wind pipe. Treatment is with anti-inflammatory drugs and antihistamines.
