Caption: Broken finger. Close-up of a 10 year old girl's broken little finger. Fractured fingers are fairly common, especially amongst children. When a bone is broken, it is bound and splinted to hold it in the correct position for healing. Here, the finger has been bound to the one next to it. Broken bones generally heal fast in children, and a minor break such as this should not take more than six weeks to heal completely.
