Eye injury. Blood in a 56-year-old man's eye. The sclera (white) of the eye was perforated by the explosive impact of a bottle top. This is known as globe perforation, and it is a medical emergency. The eye should be protected until surgery can be performed to repair the eye. Blindness can result without proper treatment, as the vitreous humor inside the eyeball can leak out.
