Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Perforated nasal septum. Forceps holding open a nostril to give a view of a hole in the nasal septum of a 62-year-old man. The septum is the wall inside the nose that divides it into two sides. Perforation can arise due to trauma, drug abuse, an abscess or certain diseases, such as Wegner granulomatosis. Treatment includes surgical closure, which often fails, or insertion of a specially designed septal button in the hole.

Release details: Model release available. Property release not required.
