Caption: This x-ray of the neck was obtained from a person who sustained a severe fracture of C2 (second cervical vertebrae). The patient also suffers from osteoporosis, which predisposes her to fracture injuries because her bones are weaker than normal. The fracture in this image is near the top of the neck. The site of tracture is the abrupt forward angulation of the bone above the fracture.
