Caption: Fractured wrist. X-ray of the wrist of a patient with a fracture (centre right) of one of the bones of the lower arm where it joins to the wrist. This fracture, with multiple bone fragments, was caused by a bullet. This is the left wrist, seen from behind (the back of the hand). The bone that has been fractured is the ulna. Surgery will be needed to pin the head of the ulna (the ulna epiphysis) back to its shaft (diaphysis). The other lower arm bone (at left) is the radius. The bones of the wrist, and some of the hand bones, are at bottom.
