Caption: Thermogram of a frontal view of a young infant suffering from severe burns to her chest and abdomen. Burns appear as the hotter, white & yellow regions. A thermogram is a colour-coded image of heat distribution over the body surface that may be used in the assessment of some diseases. Variations in temperature (increases and decreases) are characteristic of certain types of disease or injury. The colour-coding ranges from white over the warmest areas to blue over the coolest. A temperature reference disc (blue circle) is calibrated at 32 degrees C., with the colour scale representing increments of 0.5 degrees C.
