Caption: This axial (cross sectional) CT image of the brain in a newborn shows the text-book appearance of semi-lobar holoproscencephaly. This is due to a failure in diverticulation of the forebrain into 2 cerebral hemispheres. In this instance there is partial diverticulation with the formation of an interhemispheric fissure but a single/monoventricle.
