Caption: Lady's mantle. View of the flowers and leaves of the herb lady's mantle (Alchemilla mollis). Infusions of this herb have been used medicinally for centuries, mainly for healing wounds. It helps to stem the flow of blood, and also has been used to treat bruising. In modern herbal medicine, decoctions (extracts in water) are drunk to control excessive menstruation (menorrhagia). The plant grows wild in moist, mountainous areas of northern Europe, including Britain. In some areas, it is added to salads, and cheese produced from cattle which eat it has a pleasant and distinctive flavour.
