Its large white flowers bloom from March through to November. They have adapted to their semi-arid and desert habitat by opening at dusk and closing during the middle of the following morning. Photographed in Coachella Valley, California, USA, at 7:25 pm. For a sequence of the flower's opening see images B640/188-191.
