Caption: Emergency treatment. Hospital patient with a head injury being given emergency care by a trauma team. The unconscious patient was suffering from a subdural haematoma following a fall. The accident was apparently drug-related; broken Crack (cocaine) vials were found in his clothing. Subdural haematoma is the formation of a solid clot of blood beneath the dura, the outer of the membranes enclosing the brain. Photographed at the Bellevue Hospital Centre, New York City.
