Caption: Inserting a type of hollow needle known as a Venflon cannula into a vein on the back of a patient's hand, prior to taking a blood sample. The blood sample will be drawn from the cannula using a syringe. The cannula may then be flushed out and left in place for up to 72 hours for use as a drug port.
