Robot-assisted heart surgery

Rights Managed

Robot-assisted heart surgery. Hands of a surgeon operating a robotic pincer during heart surgery. The goggles in upper frame provide a magnified view of the operating site. Using robots and remote controlled devices allows much smaller incisions to be made, which speeds the recovery process. It also allows for a great deal of precision, beyond that possible by hand. Photographed at the Mondor Hospital in France.
